Alice and the Tiger
Original Art by Mia Araujo
Created for my Alice in Wonderland project that is currently in progress.
7” x 10” Ink wash on watercolor paper.
Framed size – 11″ x 14″
My take on this classic story takes place in a fantastical West African world. I’ve had this image in my head for a long time, of a tiny Alice as she tests her courage against a tiger.
Her journey through Wonderland is the story of her growth and evolution from a frightened girl to an independent, self-assured woman.

About the Artist
Mia Araujo
Mia Araujo is an Argentine-American artist, born and raised in Los Angeles.
She strongly believes in the power of nature to heal us, and to richly transform our increasingly disconnected, modern lives.
Through her work, she strives to depict the magical connection between humans and nature, and the constant balance between darkness and light that we grapple with each day. She works traditionally, primarily in acrylics, and also in graphite, ink, and watercolor.
Mia is currently developing her passion project- an illustrated novel reinterpreting Alice in Wonderland as a sister story set in a West African fantasy world, which she intends to self-publish.
